Chandler Unified School District is excited to announce the expansion of Weinberg Gifted Academy, welcoming Pre-Kindergarten classrooms to its campus starting in the 2023-2024 academic year. This addition means Weinberg Gifted Academy will now serve students from Pre-K through 6th grade, offering a comprehensive early childhood and elementary education.
While located at Weinberg Gifted Academy, it’s important to note that the Pre-K program will follow the Chandler Unified School District’s (CUSD) standard Pre-K curriculum, not gifted academy coursework. The focus will be on providing a strong foundation that aligns with CUSD Pre-K standards, ensuring children are well-prepared for a smooth transition into kindergarten. These classrooms will be fully licensed and meet the high standards set by the Arizona Department of Health Services, guaranteeing a safe and nurturing environment for young learners.
Marissa Diaz, the preschool activity coordinator, expressed her enthusiasm: “We are thrilled to welcome Pre-K to the Weinberg Gifted Academy family. Our program is designed to nurture each child’s unique potential through enriching learning experiences. We focus on developing social, physical, emotional, cognitive, and language skills in an environment that is both caring and stimulating. Weinberg Gifted Academy’s Pre-K is a fantastic choice within our district, offering a strong start to your child’s educational journey.”
Classes at Weinberg Gifted Academy Pre-K will be led by certified Early Childhood Education teachers who are passionate about early learning. To further support families, daily nutritious meals and snacks will be provided for all Pre-K students. The Pre-K school day will run from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday. For parents needing extended hours, before and after school care options will be available from 7:00-8:00 AM and from dismissal until 5:30 PM for an additional fee.
To be eligible for the Weinberg Gifted Academy Pre-K program, children must be potty-trained and turn four years old by August 31, 2023. It is important for parents to understand that attending Pre-K at Weinberg Gifted Academy does not guarantee automatic admission into the gifted program for kindergarten through 6th grade.
