Of all the holidays, Mother’s Day seems to have a knack for sneaking up on us. It’s almost comical, really. Considering how much we cherish our mothers and mother-in-laws – those incredible women who offer unwavering support and love – and for those of us who are mothers ourselves, this special day dedicated to celebrating motherhood should be front of mind, not a last-minute scramble!

Recently, (just a couple of weeks before Mother’s Day!) I found myself with some spare time and decided to transform ordinary tin cans using American Decor’s Chalky Paint in a lovely shade called “Refreshing.” Honestly, the painting process was incredibly quick, maybe ten minutes while catching up on some TV. Before I knew it, the cans were beautifully coated and ready for the next step.

To add a touch of detail, I grabbed some washi tapes in various patterns (easily found at craft stores) and utilized a free printable tag design to further embellish the tin cans. Printing the design in a smaller size and using a scalloped paper punch made creating custom tags a breeze. The final touch was finding perfectly sized potted rose plants at the local grocery store, ready to be nestled into their newly decorated homes.

My little helper was fantastic at showcasing the finished tin can planter, even pausing to appreciate the sweet fragrance of the roses. 😉
