Consider lawyers who enjoy sharing anecdotes, reflecting on their careers, or have a strong sense of family history. Storyworth is also ideal for those who appreciate personalized and meaningful gifts. Storyworth is a suitable gift for various occasions, including birthdays, graduations, professional milestones, or as a thoughtful gesture of appreciation. For example, gifting Storyworth upon a lawyer’s retirement can be a wonderful way to honor their career and help them reflect on their journey.
3. Understanding the Subscription: What’s Included?
A Storyworth Memoir subscription includes:
- One storyteller account
- Unlimited readers
- One year’s worth of email prompts
- One hardcover book with a black-and-white interior and a color cover
Every week, the “storyteller” (the person telling their story) receives an email with a question to answer. The storyteller replies to the prompt by email, and their answer is emailed to all the readers designated on their account. Storytellers can also write their story directly on their Storyworth account or record it over the phone.
3.1. Features and Benefits
The subscription includes weekly email prompts, unlimited access for family and friends to read the stories, and a beautifully printed hardcover book at the end of the year. This comprehensive package ensures a seamless and enjoyable storytelling experience.
3.2. Example Story Prompts
Storyworth’s library of story prompts includes questions like:
- What is one of your fondest childhood memories?
- If you were to do it over, what would you do differently?
- What things matter most to you in life?
- What is the furthest you have ever traveled?
These questions are designed to inspire reflection and elicit engaging stories.
4. How Storyworth Works: A Step-by-Step Guide
Storyworth simplifies the memoir-writing process by breaking it into manageable weekly prompts. Here’s how it works:
4.1. The Weekly Prompts
Each week, the recipient receives an email with a thought-provoking question. They can respond directly to the email or log in to their Storyworth account to write their story.
4.2. Sharing Stories with Family and Friends
As the recipient answers the questions, their stories are shared with designated family members and friends, creating a shared experience.
4.3. Compiling the Book
After a year, Storyworth compiles the stories and photos into a beautifully bound hardcover book. The recipient has the option to edit and customize the book before it’s printed.
5. Customizing the Storyworth Experience
You have full flexibility with the topics your storyteller can write about. You can choose your storyteller’s questions from our library, edit our questions, or write your own for a meaningful and customized experience.
5.1. Selecting and Editing Questions
One of the key features of Storyworth is the ability to customize the questions. You can choose from a pre-selected list or create your own questions tailored to the recipient’s life and experiences.
5.2. Adding Photos
Photos can be easily added to the stories, bringing the memories to life and adding a personal touch to the book. To include a photo, simply include it with your email response, either inline or as an attachment. You can also upload images by logging into your Storyworth account. There is no limit to the number of photos you can include aside from the limit of 480 pages per volume.
5.3. Cover and Design Options
Storyworth offers a variety of cover designs and customization options to create a unique and personalized book. The books are 6 ⅹ 9 inches, similar to a book you might find in a bookstore. The font is Merriweather, size 10. We currently don’t support font formatting of any kind—no italics, bold, or underline.
The books can include photos, which are printed in black and white by default; however, color printing is available at an additional cost.
We have several professionally designed cover styles to choose from. All covers can be customized with a photo and a title, and some cover styles allow for different colors.
6. Gifting Storyworth: A Thoughtful Gesture
Storyworth makes it easy to give the gift of storytelling. Here’s how:
6.1. Purchasing a Gift Subscription
Visit the Storyworth website and purchase a gift subscription. You’ll need to provide the recipient’s email address and choose a delivery date for the gift notification.
6.2. Personalizing the Gift Message
Include a personal message to let the recipient know why you chose Storyworth for them. Sharing a heartfelt message can make the gift even more meaningful. For example, you might write, “I thought this would be a wonderful way for you to share your incredible career journey and life experiences with our family.”
6.3. Delivery Options
You can choose to have the gift notification delivered immediately or schedule it for a specific date, such as the recipient’s birthday or a special occasion.
7. Sharing Storyworth With a Lawyer

Storyworth provides a unique opportunity for them to reflect on their lives, share their experiences, and create a lasting legacy for their loved ones. The gift of Storyworth aligns with their professional appreciation for words and documentation.
8. The Storyworth Book: A Cherished Keepsake
After one year of email prompts, you will have the option of turning the storyteller’s narrative into a bound book. The standard Storyworth subscription includes one hardcover book with a black-and-white interior and color cover.
If you want to add more stories, you can renew your subscription, allowing the storyteller to continue receiving and answering Storyworth questions for an additional year. You will still be able to edit your existing stories and order your book(s) after the initial subscription has expired.
Your Storyworth Memoir will be a keepsake you can pass down for generations, so give the creation process the care it deserves. Review the content, check the formatting, and confirm that everything is correct and the way you envisioned it before ordering your printed book.

Each question email contains a link to change your question if you’re not inspired by that week’s topic. Just click that link to visit our question library, where you can choose a new question or write your own.
42. Can I voice record my stories?
Yes! In addition to writing, you can record your stories over the phone, and we’ll transcribe them to your book automatically. You can also rerecord or edit your story at any time.
43. Is it possible to write more than one story per week?
Storytellers can write as many stories per week as they wish, and the frequency can be changed in the email settings under Manage Account. We default to sending one question per week to avoid overwhelming people, but you can choose to send them faster (up to once a day) or slower (every other week or even once a month). Your book can be printed whenever you feel your memoir is complete.
44. Can I invite two storytellers that share an email address?
If your storytellers share an email address, that’s no problem! You can purchase them each a subscription with the same email address. Note: you’ll just need to make both purchases separately. Once their subscriptions begin, your storytellers will both receive questions once a week. The emails will be distinguished by the names in the subject lines.
45. Can I change the order of my stories in the printed book?
Yes! You can reorganize the order of your stories by visiting your Table of Contents on our website. From there, you can drag and drop the stories into the order of your choosing.
46. Can I edit or add on to my stories?
You can edit a story at any time by following these steps:
- Go to your account at www.storyworth.com/home

- You’ll see links to edit your story in the right column (don’t forget to hit “Save”)
47. Can I gift a color book?
All books come with a full-color cover. The book credits included in our standard packages are for books with black-and-white interior printing. Currently, it is not possible to upgrade to a book credit with a color interior up front, but you can upgrade to a color interior at the time of printing. The cost of the color upgrade depends on the length of the book:
- $40 if under 300 pages
- $60 if above 300 pages (up to our maximum of 480 pages).
48. Can my family’s stories be printed in the same book?
Each subscription covers one storyteller and one book, but purchasing multiple subscriptions for multiple storytellers lets you include all their stories in the same book at the time of printing. You’ll then receive multiple copies of that book for your family to save.
To combine multiple storytellers into one book, please reach out to us at [email protected] after the storytellers have finished writing their stories, and we’ll create the combined book for you.
