Looking for the Perfect Happy Birthday Gift? Just Blog!

It’s true, in just ten days, I’ll be turning the big 4-0. As the day approaches, the question everyone asks, and I’m starting to consider myself, is: what do you get for someone who seems to have everything?

I’ll admit, finding the ideal gift for me can be a bit of a puzzle. I can be rather particular, especially when it comes to the nuances of technology – like choosing the right cable. But the great news is, the Happy Birthday Gift I truly desire this year is something absolutely everyone can give.

This year, for my 40th birthday, the best gift would be for you to blog.

Yes, you! I’m asking for blog posts. Don’t overthink it – the subject is entirely up to you! Your post can be long or short, maybe it’s a captivating photo you’ve taken, an insightful video you created, a thought-provoking quote you love, or even just a link to something fascinating you discovered online. The key is simply to publish. Share something you’ve made, or amplify something you’ve enjoyed. It genuinely doesn’t take much effort. The very act of publishing something online will be a wonderful happy birthday gift, both for me and for yourself!

That’s truly what I want for my birthday this year. If you happen to use WordPress for your blog and link back to this post, the Pingback system will let me know about your post, and it will even show up in the comment section below. But even if you don’t use WordPress, that’s perfectly okay! Just post something anywhere online and send me a link. You could even start a free blog on Tumblr or establish your own corner of the internet with a domain and WP.com.

You have ten days to contribute to my unique birthday wish! After the 11th, I’ll be closing the comments and pingbacks on this particular post. But I’m genuinely excited and curious to read what everyone shares.

So, forget the wrapping paper and bows this year. The perfect happy birthday gift is blogs, and more blogs, each one unique and beautiful in its own way. (Oh, and if you’re feeling extra generous, consider putting $10 towards the Bay Lights project to help boost the contributor numbers.)
