Crafting Joy: DIY Christmas Gift Boxes with Spellbinders Sealed 3D Collection

Hello, fellow craft enthusiasts! Emily Leiphart here, and I’m delighted to share some festive inspiration using the Sealed 3D Christmas Collection from Spellbinders. If you’re like me and appreciate beautiful gift wrapping, you’ll love how effortlessly this collection elevates even the simplest treats into memorable presents, perfect for holiday parties or spontaneous visits.

The Ribbon Box from this collection immediately caught my eye. I envisioned creating a set of ombré Christmas Gift Boxes, ideal for presenting candies, homemade cookies, or other delightful baked goods. During the holiday season, sharing homemade treats is a cherished tradition, and these boxes are the perfect way to add an extra touch of warmth and surprise for friends and family.

For this project, I chose a vibrant yet harmonious color palette featuring Poppy, Nectar, Sea Glass, Tidepool, and Juniper cardstock, accented with touches of gold. I began by die-cutting the Ribbon Box from Tidepool, Juniper, and Sea Glass cardstock. To add a unique embossed detail, I used coordinating inks and the Sealed Poinsettia Stems press plates on one side of each box before assembling them. This subtle texture adds an elegant, handcrafted feel to these Christmas gift boxes.

To further enhance each box with pops of festive color, I die-cut poinsettias, holly leaves, and shimmering gold glitter evergreen sprigs using the Holiday Blooms dies. I cut the holly leaves from the same cardstock colors as the boxes but intentionally rotated the colors to create visual contrast and interest on each box. This thoughtful detail ensures each Christmas gift box is unique and eye-catching.

Next, I added warm, golden sentiments to complement the festive theme. Using Gold Hot Foil and the round sentiment plates from Sealed Poinsettia Stems, I heat-foiled holiday greetings onto Nectar cardstock, which beautifully matches the poinsettia centers. When die-cutting the circles with the coordinating die, I left a little extra space at the top to punch a small 1/8” hole, perfect for threading ribbon or cord for attaching to the Christmas gift boxes.

For an elegant finishing touch, I used a generous length of Vivant Circle Gold Metallic Cord. Looping the cord around the box handle several times, I then attached the circle sentiment tag and tied it securely. The gold cord adds a touch of luxury and perfectly complements the festive color scheme of these handmade Christmas gift boxes.

To add a final flourish, I decided to incorporate bows. The beautiful bow die from Bouquet Full of Joy was the perfect choice. I heat-foiled three bows in Gold Hot Foil onto the same cardstock colors as the boxes and holly leaves, again rotating the colors – Sea Glass, Tidepool, and Juniper – to ensure each color was represented on every Christmas gift box. These bows add dimension and a touch of celebratory charm to the finished gift boxes.
