Little Bits of Joy
Despite some challenging weather recently, we’ve been embracing the spirit of spring and eagerly anticipating warmer days and blooming flowers.
Determined to add some spring color to our doorstep, a trip to the nursery was essential. Even with the chilly temperatures, planting pansies seemed like the perfect way to welcome the season. However, our furry friend Maddie had other plans and couldn’t resist the freshly planted blooms! As you can see, she shows no remorse for her floral feast.
Soon after, our other pets joined in, and the pansies in the outdoor pots also became a snack. It seems we’ll have to wait for summer blooms that are less tempting to our garden gourmands!
On a brighter note, the forsythia at the nursery was in full bloom, a vibrant sign of spring. The forsythia bushes along our driveway are budding and should burst into sunny yellow blossoms soon.
This week, we made a comforting and flavorful French Spring Soup. Loaded with vegetables, lemon, and fresh herbs, it’s a perfect dish for cool spring evenings. We substituted farro for barley, using what we had on hand, and it was wonderfully satisfying.
We also refreshed the mantel décor for late spring and early summer and brought out the striped summer slipcover for the living room loveseat, signaling the transition to a lighter, brighter home ambiance. We look forward to sharing our living room “refresh” with you next week!
