Experiencing issues gifting Emily during the Feast of the Winter Star in Stardew Valley version 1.5.4.2 on Switch? You’re not alone. Many players have encountered a frustrating bug that crashes the game right after gifting Emily, your secret Santa recipient, at the annual winter festival.
Like many dedicated farmers, my daily routine in Stardew Valley is sacred: milk the cows, collect eggs, and greet all the farm animals. Heading to the Feast of the Winter Star at 9 am on my 4th year, I was excited to participate in the gift exchange. This year, I was assigned Emily as my secret Santa. Always aiming for good relationships in Pelican Town, I made sure to speak to everyone at the feast before approaching Emily.
Wanting to give a well-loved gift, I offered Emily a Diamond. She happily accepted, but then the screen went black, and instead of proceeding to the gift reveal scene, my Nintendo Switch displayed an error message, closing the game. Frustrated, I restarted the day, thinking the Diamond might be the issue. The second time, I opted for a Ruby, another universally liked gem. Again, the same disheartening result: game crash after Emily’s acceptance.
To troubleshoot further, I repeated the day once more, streamlining my actions. Farm chores, mail collection (fertilizer as usual), and straight to the Feast. This time, I went directly to Emily and presented her with a Diamond immediately. Despite the changed approach, the bug persisted. Each attempt to gift Emily resulted in the game crashing just as the gift exchange scene was about to begin.
Currently, I’m patiently awaiting the next Stardew Valley update, hoping for a resolution to this Feast of the Winter Star glitch. Refusing to skip gifting Emily and be a “Scrooge,” I’m holding off on progressing until this issue is resolved. Emily, a beloved resident of Stardew Valley, deserves her gift! Aside from this particular setback, Stardew Valley remains an exceptional game, filled with charm and endless enjoyment. Fingers crossed for a quick fix to get back to celebrating the Feast of the Winter Star properly.
